Gandan Tegchenling Monastery will contribute to the "Billion trees" national movement!

A meeting was held with His Eminence the Most Venerable Khamba Lama, the 30th Khamba Nomun Khan, Geshe Lharampa D. Javzandorj, Head of the Gandan Tegchenling Monastery and the Center of Mongolian Buddhists. The meeting was attended by Z. Munkhbat, Advisor to the President of Mongolia, and G. Enkhtaivan, Executive Director of the “Billion Trees Movement” NGO.

The participants underscored the important role of Buddhist organizations and monasteries in supporting the implementation of the “Billion Trees National Movement.” They exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the areas of environmental protection, ecosystem restoration, and tree planting and cultivation, as well as on jointly implementing awareness-raising initiatives, projects, and programs.

The meeting highlighted the value of Buddhist teachings and ethical principles grounded in compassion, responsibility, and respect for nature, particularly in promoting environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Emphasis was placed on advancing practical, monastery-based green initiatives that contribute to environmental protection and restoration efforts.

 

Participants further agreed that Buddhist temples and monastic communities, through their moral leadership and outreach, can play a meaningful role in mobilizing public participation and fostering societal engagement in the national tree-planting movement, thereby contributing to long-term environmental sustainability.
